Dream and fly high you eagle|Make a difference in the world

Updated on July 22, 2012

This is the poem I wrote for one my very good friends college graduation day this year. In the poem, I tried to place myself in my friend’s shoe and look out to the world. The realities of life is portrayed in the poem from the eyes of a person who has just left college and is experiencing the world and then using that experience to educate fresh graduates. If the poem inspires you, drop your comments in the comments section below.

Happy reading

I received my calling one day
That is to make a difference
I was a chick without wings
Cold and lonely I came
You took me in and gave me food and shelter
Time has healed my loneliness and made warm
Your wisdom has gave me wings to fly
I’ll flutter my wings and soar like an eagle
Up the highest mountains and against the raging storm
Like a lion, I will loam the jungle and be the king
Like a tortoise, I’ll go slowly and wisely till I reach my dreams
I pray that the creator guide my steps steadfastly
As I lay on the green pastures & walk the rocky paths
That my enemies will not trample me

From where I stand and see across the horizon
I see a world full of hopes and dreams, yet so much miseries and misfortunes
So much love and kindness, yet so much hatred & greed
A world full of crazy people yet full of wise people
The world is so beautiful yet so ugly
But I have been called
To put a smile on everyone I touch
To paint a beautiful picture on the ugly walls of the word
To sing a melodic, wondrous song to lift up the worlds spirit
That is my calling
“To make man a Difference”

With All My Love

      Thanks Denise,

Really appreciate your positive comments. To me poetry is like a medicine that heals my soul when I'm down. Poetry gives me wings to fly over my negative thoughts and heart aches and pains and opens my world to internal peace and self-awareness.

Yes, I understand. It is a tool of healing and an expression of elation and joy. I wrote a couple of poems last August during a particularly rough low point. It was a sweet catharsis.
