To My Son, Jeff (a poem)

Jeff's poem

They told me

You could never come.

The drs were so sure,

That you, I would never see.

You wanted to come

Seems like it was up to God,

To do what a mere mortal

Couldn’t do I had you.

I love your smile

Your face lights up,

I love your laugh

I love spending time with you.

You were so cute,

I couldn’t let you go.

I had wanted you so badly

I wanted to have you so..

You were the cutest baby

I”ve ever seen,such a good baby,

That I loved so much

I watched you grow.

Your so big and strong

I only have memories,

Of when you were young

You were in my eyes ever wrong.

Now you’re a man

Almost on your own,

I hope the next few years

Go by real slow.

I love you very much.

I’d be lost without you

The way you you give big hugs,

The way you say I love you.

You’ll always be my baby

No matter how you grow,

I’ll have to pray it goes by slow

.

You are my son

The son I adore

soon he won’t need me anymore,

.

You are the man

I thought you’d be

For you will always be my baby

That you will always stay.

This is for my son,

I never thought I’d have

I wanted you so badly

You’ve done everything right.

Great hub! Lovely poem penned with such emotion and a fierce love (a mother's love). The bond with children (and now grandchildren for me) is so strong and this comes through in your writing. Up and beautiful.
