To See Your Face - poem

Updated on April 3, 2013
Source

To see your face is to know all is right
The warm gentleness behind your eyes
Comfort comes with soft expressions

Your words bypass my ears
Traveling straight to the depths of my heart
Saying just what needs to be heard

In your arms is sweet refuge
The most comfort I have ever felt
And safest place that I will ever be

There is no question I love you
Never having a choice in the matter
My heart decided before ever I saw your face

No choosing how long my love will last
Begun before my eyes fell upon you
It will continue for all eternity

First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Roberta Flack 1972

Hi dear Dana, miss you and HP, seems like soooo long ago- we had such fun here

I like this line a lot:

The warm gentleness behind your eyes

I would like to SEE that.

      Love and Hugs.

      Rosie

      blondey - who says it's fiction ;)

seriously, I started out writing fiction by drawing from my own expericences and basing charactrs on people I know. I am slowly getting better at pure fiction. It's fun!

epigramman - the title is what came to me first. and then a little more and more. and out of know where the first line of that song came to mind. I adore that song. Some day I will write like the great poets and songwriters. Fornow I am happy to simply accompany them. I am so very pleased you like my pairing. :)

blondey - How perceptive of you! This is about what we were talking about, or should I say who. You are right about not getting to choose who we love, or who loves us - regarless, I have found a way to choose to make them my muse!

By your reaction to this, it look slike I got it right! hugs hunny!

      Hi Dana,

Funny we were just talking about this last night.

Wow, this hit me to the core, lol. We don't always get to choose who we love BUT we can forget them if we choose. take care :)

I knew this was going to be a great one just by reading the title - and what stellar company you are keeping with one of the greatest love songs of all time, Miss Dana, with your featured video.

Well you know what they say - it takes one to know one - and that particular love song is in grand company too with your eternal poetic pledge to the one we all love. It goes wonderfully with my Duke Ellington music right now - how is life in N.Y. for you these days -sending warm wishes from lake erie time ontario canada 1:50am
