A Message for Some of Our Young People

Samuel Malik Canty: the Word Bird. I am the author of Four Poetry Books, I understand my Purpose, and my words are my proof...

We lost Another One Today…Young, vibrant, and full of life…

So many tearful eyes, so many people screaming the word why!!

Death came a calling and once again another youth is laid to rest…

Too young to die….

The pain in that mother’s eyes rises like the tide as she searches for reasons why…

Weeping is intense, as vengeance on angry lips gather strength because someone has to pay for this…

Once again we gather to say goodbye to someone who is too young to die…

Once again a life that is loved by so many is gone…

We cry, we express anger over the waste of another youth who won’t get the chance to live life to its fullest…

We weep with the families that are broken and shaken by the lost of their child…

Too young to die…

Tired of going and hearing about funerals for young people…

Tired of senseless killing….

Tired of the death angel making early claims on our youth …

Tired of them hurting, maiming and crippling each other over street nonsense and other elements that don’t promote growth…

Bullets flying, gang activities rising, dropping out instead of into schools has increased…

Too young to die and I need those who are Still Here to realize that Life is to be treasured and each time we lose a son, a daughter, we also lose someone who might have lived to be someone the world needs…

Young people hear my words and stop killing each other over attitudes, over clothing and colors…

Stop the violence and give life a chance…

This breaks my heart to no end. It's disgraceful that this has been going on so long with no programs in place in most communities to help people learn to love and respect themselves...to give them hope and give them safe and secure places to grow and thrive. When minimum wage keeps people in poverty - where's the hope? When drugs give the only relief from an ugly reality - where's the hope? I've shed so many tears for people I have never met.
