To mum and dad, with love
You held my hand and taught me to walk,
You understood my speech, even before I learned to talk.
You celebrated my every milestone like it was a victory,
You taught me right from wrong lovingly, but strictly.
You were the wind beneath my wings as I learned to fly,
You were there to pick me up when I fell and make me again try,
You were the fire in my belly pushing me to set and achieve targets very high,
You were there for me through every laugh, hardship and cry.
I have always tried to live up to your expectations and more,
Fulfill your dreams and high above them soar,
I have always tried to be the daughter you deserve,
For nothing will ever be enough in response to your care and love.
You fulfilled my every wish, before I could so much as say,
One day you will walk me down the aisle and give me away,
It will not suffice, if he is just a Romeo to my Juliet,
For very difficult to match are the relationship goals you set.
For all the sacrifices you made,
And for those that you still make,
I will never be able to repay you I am afraid,
But it wont be for a lack of try and whatever it takes.
