To my grandma [Poem]

Updated on June 2, 2012

Do you remember my passion for soccer, grandma?
Tonight I lost a game, grandma.

Have you seen the match, grandma?
I just wanted to score a goal for you, grandma.

But am I too nervous, grandma?
You always used to make me calm, grandma.

You could have told me "It doesn't matter", remember, grandma?
"You'll win the next game", you could have told me, grandma.

The truth is that I miss you, don't you know, grandma?
And I could set my soccer's passion apart for all my life, just to see you again, grandma.

I fell in love one time

I trembled every moment spent with her

There was an earthquake in my heart

Stronger than any earthquake on this planet

      Stronger than everything

      It's the meaning of love

      Being more than an earthquake

It's terribly touching, especially the very last verse. I don't know how it's doing as far as scoring is concerned but it would have a greater impact if 'grandma' wasn't repeated in the first three verses. I do so love that so many athletes feel they owe so much to their grandmothers. BEAUTIFUL!

@Lorenzo27...I'm sure this touching remembrance has been heard and seen by your loving grandmother!

I was fortunate to have all four of my grandparents in my life as I grew up, and all four of them left me with an impression, or twenty!

Thanks for sharing a Hub about the love of grandparents, who all influence our lives directly, or through our own parents.

Voted up and beautiful. So much said in a short space with well-chosen words and appropriate rhythm. I'm a grandma and I hope I inspire my grandchildren as much as your grandma inspired and helped you. Lovely.

Loss is hard, but we do go on.

Hint to get more views---HP stipulates that a hub has to be 500 words. If you could write about what this poem is about it will be listed in search engines. Good Luck to you!
