Tonight the cold wind blows

Updated on June 19, 2013

Tonight

I think of you

and as I do

the pale moon hides behind my heart

I remember when the colors of love

fell from your lips

and I chased them through the wind

and I wonder

tonight

as the cold wind blows a hollow sun

have you forgotten

how to run

or has the pale red moon

risen

too soon

we ran before we learned to walk

we tripped

into each others arms

but when we got up

when we awoke

we accidentally brushed the leaves

off of our sleeves

L

lay lifeless

dead leaves

and so we wait

again
for the wind

and the rain

for it was the storm

that left us stranded

upon the shore

Now

the moon has grown full

and the day is long gone

for my roots have grown

apart from you

but the leaves

and the colors

they will never

let me forget you
