Too Much

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

Too much,

the swell

of human voices,

pleading change,

suffering the throws

of arrogant wills,

those oppressing the meek

and selfless hearts,

who impact the earth,

with love and tolerance,

not self-gain, at any cost.

Too much,

the blind power of greed,

lives bent on conquest,

not harmony,

the elevation of the body

not the soul,

and all things born of self,

hedonistic values,

capricious lives,

swept up into the pleasures

of self-glorification.

Too much,

the loss of all morality,

when ends justify means,

a disregard for empathy,

for compassion,

a loveless life

of superficial pleasures,

driven by carnal thoughts,

far from love,

and a peaceful heart,

cold and hard.

Too much,

the pressure of life,

what is expected,

demanded,

by the cold hand

of heartless overlords,

the corporate pirates

of capitalism,

struggling for supremacy,

while we of warm heart,

uphold their will.

Too much,

this world has become,

with its fall from grace.

It's best not to focus 'too much' on what we are lacking, but instead on what we have and can become in this world of opportunity and disaster.
