Too Late to cry

If I could fly

I’d be a butterfly

I’d flutter my wings

And overthrow kings

If I could fly

And gravity defy

I’d be a Hummingbird

Agile, fragile and undeterred

If I could fly

Way up in the sky

An eagle I’d be

Gliding high and free

If only we could fly

We’d open our eyes

See through the disguise

In one voice decry-

Callousness and waste

Of this sacred place

That sustains life

And protect us from strife

If I could fly

Before I die

I’d hover above

And look down with love

The forest of rain

drenched in sadness and pain

Would evince her scars

Inflicted by wars

In a world gone insane.. she is crying Why....Oh Why

Hi Kim, thank you for taking a look, much appreciated. I really enjoyed "Moral Courage," it reminded me of this poem I wrote awhile ago. Maybe things will change one day. Bless you for the visit and wonderful comment. Jo.

Hi Jo. I made it over here like I promised. Very beautiful. I can see why you wanted me to read it. Quite similar to Moral Courage, isn't it! It is remarkable how close our vision of this is and am grinning ear to ear. I think we both deserve a pat on the back LOL. Best wishes, as always. Kim

Capedium, I'm not familiar with the sung from you childhood, but if the poem evokes good memories, that is a plus. Glad you enjoyed it

There is an adage that I use to always sing as a child "it is too late to cry when your head us caught off" so when I saw your Hub, I just quickly dive in, I knew it was going to be fun and educative.. Though I realize that though the meaning of my adage and your poem may be the same, the perceptive differ.. If I could, and I never taught I could.. Way to go.. Great Hub
