Top 10 Songs To Get Stuck In Your Head
10) Dirty Diana - Michael Jackson
You could insert any Michael Jackson song here; Smooth Criminal, Man in the Mirror, Beat it, etc. But there's something about Dirty Diana that makes it so catchy, he sings it with a lot of anger. I remember growing up listening to this song on repeat over and over.
I recently came across a cover version of the song sung by Benjamin Burnely of Breaking Benjamin, which caused me to get all amped up about the song again.
9) What's This? - Nightmare Before Christmas
I grew up on the movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and Jack Skellington is probably my all time favorite character of any movie ever. Fall Out Boy did a cover of the song which I like equally as much as the original. Although I've known of the cover version for years, I wasn't aware there was actually an entire CD dedicated to remakes of the songs of the movie by various artists that I highly recommend.
8) Don't Look Back In Anger - Oasis
This is interchangeable with "Wonderwall" by Oasis. It's one of those songs that's slow paced and basically everyone in the world can sing it. It has a simple melody that's extremely pleasing, while at the same time it's a song you can roll down your window and listen to it driving around on a summer day. I don't know what it is about this song, and I don't think it's so much a song that you can't get out of your head, or a song that's just way too fun to sing.
Actually, that whole album was a great album, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Morning Glory, I highly recommend giving the whole thing a listen. I can't believe it's been 16 years since it's come out.
7) Say It Ain't So - Weezer
This is another song that's so simple that anyone can sing it and sound half way decent. I think Weezer makes a living on songs that get stuck in your head, because now that I think about it, I want to add "My Name is Jonas" and "Buddy Holly," but I'd prefer this list to not have to be renamed "Just a Stupid List of Weezer Songs."
6) ET - Katy Perry/Alex Goot
Katy Perry's version is addicting enough, but I found Alex Goot's version and immediately fell in love with it. I'm starting to think I have some sort of addiction to cover versions of songs, but you NEED to hear his version because it's absolutely amazing. Not only that, but he also has that awesome Sesame Street shirt that someone needs to buy for me immediately. A large will do. Medium works too if you're into man boobs.
5) The Wonders - That Thing You Do!
I was indifferent about the movie, "That Thing You Do!" which is about a band called "The Wonders" making a hit song and then falling apart. Their name was loosely based off the term The One Hit Wonders. However, the song that the movie was based around is called "That Thing You Do!" and it's so stinking catchy. It was written for the movie in the 90's, and every once in awhile the song will pop back in my head at work, and it's one of the hardest songs you'll ever get out once you learn the words.
4) Aerosmith - Crazy
Yes, I know it's extremely long, but it's probably the best song Aerosmith has ever performed. I'm sure plenty of people will disagree, but the lyrics are amazing (next to I Don't Want To Miss a Thing, they are the best of any Aerosmith song), and this is one of those songs where you can slow dance to, and it sets the mood perfectly for that special someone you're thinking of. I. Love. This. Song.
3) Seal - Kiss From a Rose
This song came out for one of the Batman movies. I remember the first time I heard it, my uncle had taken me to the theater to watch it and all of the seats were so empty that I thought the movie was going to be horrible. Afterwards, all I can remember is that this song was on the radio constantly, and now it's constantly in my head. This is also a good one because it seems everyone knows it, so it's easy to gain a cult-like following by just singing the song.
2) Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives Me Crazy
I needed to add at least one kinda weirdish song that didn't involve Lady Gaga. I decided there's no way I'm sticking her on the list unless I ran out of ideas, but it never came down to it. Anyways, The Fine Young Cannibals... they're odd... The song is odd... The video is odd... but I remember it from my youth, and every time someone busts out with the chorus, it's stuck in everyone's head. Yeah- have fun with this one.
1) Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah
This song makes all of us boys just want to pick up a guitar and learn how to play so we can immediately stand outside of our significant other's window and sing this song to them. If you don't love this song, you weren't loved as a child. The best part is that there really are "Delilahs" in this world and us guys just want to be there for them and say the words that are so perfectly sung in this song. Anyways, it's extremely catchy, fun to sing, and it's simple- which are the perfect ingredients for a perfect song to get stuck in your head.
