Fantasy / Sci-Fi Books Reading List for Teens
Fall into a Mythical world with fairies, or where people have special abilities, or travel back in time and experience the journey through the martial arts. Here is a list of science fiction novels, each unique in plot and style, mainly from the perspective(s) of teenagers, ranging from 12 to 18. I recommended these books to teenagers who enjoy adventure, action, romance and magic!
"My most educated analysis with all means of science and technology in mind is that it's Magic."— from The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell
Land of Stories by Chris Colfer
An adventure of a girl named Alex Bailey, and her twin, Conner Bailey, as they wind up in a magical world and are forced onto a treasure hunt for the Wishing Spell - the key to get home. However, the Evil Queen is also after the spell, and the twins find themselves in a race against time.
As the reader journeys through the novels, Alex and Conner age from 12 to 16, also going through typical teenage struggles as they work their way to their victory.
This is my all time favourite series, that really engages the reader in a combination of Science and Magic, as we learn more about classical fairy-tales, and their twists. (Fantasy)

"Even in the Future the story begins with Once Upon a Time"— from The Lunar Chronicle: Cinder
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Cinder, a half cyborg step-daughter is know as the best mechanic, however as her step-mother blames her for all the horrors and problems the family has, she is sent away to a place very few survive. In the following book, Cinder finds out her importance to Lunar and Earth, and finds herself in a journey to overthrow the evil Lunar Queen, Levana.
The reader experiences some of the troubles and pressures of a girl entering young womanhood, as Cinder finds herself working and acting with limited parental guidance, at the age of 18.
The Lunar chronicles are filled with lots of adventures, self discovery, and (of course) romance. It draws the reader into a distopean, futuristic world were technological advancements are better, with a new twist on classical fairy-tales. (Fantasy / Sci-Fi)
