Touch-me-not (original version)

Touch-me-not

In seductive ways,

I do not understand.

Hugs are good,

For those you love.

If your love were true,

You would not harm me.

Touch-me-not

For I am fragile.

It may be that you like

Young and agile.

But I am delicate,

I break easy, and

"I'm sorries!" do not placate.

Touch-me-not

For I belong to God.

Ravage not my innocence,

Scars so deep,

Will not heal.

You say "I'm gentle!"

Yet the soul is bruised,

With but a whisper.

Touch-me-not

In such a way,

For you see,

I so innocently,

Follow your lead.

I trust you to show,

The right way to go.

Touch-me-not

For my little mind,

is but a seed.

It can grow strong,

If given its needs.

Weak and confused,

If surrounded by weeds.

So touch-me-not

I beg of you!

For I am a child of God,

And you are too!

Touch-me-not

Touch-me-not

I am fragile

You may like young, agile

I am delicate

I bend and break

"I'm sorries!"

Do not placate

Touch-me-not

Ravage innocence

Scars too deep

Will not heal

"I'll be gentle!"

Soul bruises

From a whisper

Touch-me-not

Seductive ways

I do not understand

If love is true

would not harm

Touch-me-not

Innocently

I follow

Lead me

The right way

Touch-me-not

Little mind

A seed

Grows strong

Given needs

Weak, confused

Found in weeds

*I am not a poet but this came to me one day, so I wrote it down. It has been rewritten a few times but still I am not a poet. I apologize to any real poets who may read this.

It sounds like something you are trying to tell yourself, maybe something you don't realize but need to deal with. That was my impression anyway. Polly

The flower name inspired it. I don't recall anything happening to me but I suppose it might have. I don't remember a lot of my childhood so I guess anything is possible. I thought I blocked my past out because of my father's death. There may be more. Thanks for stopping by and reading Pollyannalana.

Its beautiful we all venture the big road of growing up and often that alone leaves us feeling as you described. Great expression. :)

Thanks katiem2, I think it could have been written a lot better if I were a poet but I tried.

This beautiful poem brought tears to my eyes. You capture what victims of abuse go through, precisely.

You are a poet. Don't knock yourself.

      Namaste.

Thanks Deborah! I just meant I am not in the same league as many who are really poets.

Thank you Peggy W. I am thinking of posting the full thing, the original to see which one is better. I will probably get that up in the next couple of days and a poll so please come back and vote.

THis is really good. I kept thinking I wish sexual predators amnd molesters could read this and really resonate with them. There were really many messages to get from this, but it was well done.

Thanks, izettl! I wish that there was no such thing as a sexual predator or molester but unfortunately they do exist. I hope that maybe this message does get out there and that it can help curb their desires.

      Thanks for stopping by.
