All wrong

From the very start

Blinded

By my fickle heart

Toxic

Like the River Styxx

I did not see

Nor could I fix

This thing called love

That I mistook

Bound by chains

My life, forsook

Loss of youth

Throughout the years

Loss of spirit

Embittered tears

Loss of self

A stranger I've been

Loss of hope

Defeated by men

Break away

Before it's too late

Banish this curse

I've come to hate

An unfortunate lesson

I had to learn

Peace is something

Now, I yearn

Never again

Shall I follow the past

Behind me now

Free at last

Hi ziyena, what a great poem. You've learnt lessons, you got out of those situations by recognizing it was wrong, but never give up and never stop believing in something better.

Thanks Michael. That line is special to me. I've been a stranger to myself for way too long ... almost fifteen years. Glad to know me again. Feels good

    Sam,

You'd think I get it right the first time. I guess that's where I went wrong. There's always that deep inner need to fix someone when really I needed the fixing myself :)

Enjoyable for its poetry. Sad are the lessons we never should have had to learn. Lucifer is a liar.
