Trials in Life

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

So often we are tested,

walk hot coals the price of a malicious mind,

or suffer the twisted will of ill-intent,

without obvious reason and at great cost.

In blame we fail to see the broader perspective,

and often lower our thoughts to that of the perpetrator,

prolonging the ordeal and oblivious to the gift of light,

the understanding and growth on offer.

We see life as good or bad,

judging circumstance and therefore experiencing them

as a consequence, with happiness or sadness,

pain or pleasure, worthwhile or pointless.

Yet life does not judge our experience,

it sees not our response of any worth,

simply as a lesson in understanding,

a gift of knowledge and growth.

We however, see everything in terms of the self,

how it affects us, whether positive or negative.

In reality experience cannot be invalid because we judge it,

pain is no less an experience than joy,

and should be embraced for what it offers,

what we learn about ourselves as a result.

Trial is simply your part in a consequence that you have fashioned

within the natural balance of the world,

for your benefit and understanding,

your decisions and responses the catalyst

of change and outcome.

When faced with trial,

accept and embrace all possibility,

in a positive and loving way,

and life will not change,

but your view of it will.

Perspective results in understanding,

and pain then becomes just another aspect of experience,

to be embraced and accepted as part of life.

Tony, very good thoughts to ponder. I really enjoy reading your work, for you touch on life and bring forth thoughts and feelings that often are forgotten or ignored and lie just below the surface of boring existence for many. Your poems remind us that life should be lived, experienced, and felt to it's fullest in every moment of every day. Thank you.

Hi hi, well said. We should thank God for our trials because he only sends them to make us STRONG... ... we don't always see it that way at the present time but after it works out for good. If only we can maintain the right attitude and cast our burdens on Jesus all will be well.

Thanks for sharing such interesting stuff.

May others think like you and me also

      Peace be unto you

      Shalom
