Tribute to a Roadrunner

Updated on February 17, 2017

Brown cropped bird, you dart and do stroll all around,

Each time I try to take your picture, you run, to bound.

I must click my shutter quick, my capturing your image,

Every time we play your game, to be quite a scrimmage.

You demand such a wide audience, as you prance to and fro,

Sitting still very long, not in your vocabulary, part of your show.

Brilliant performer, your antics and athleticism, forever to grow,

You must be a close kin to Red, the rooster, as you like to crow.

Roadrunner, there's no Wiley Coyote, ever to catch you still,

You'll leave him in a dusty cloud, so giving us all such a thrill.

If only I could get just one interview, I'd give a hundred bucks,

Your agent's always out of town, my every call, always ducks.

I've never seen a roadrunner in person. I think they're so cool!
