True Freedom of the Skies, Revival

Updated on October 10, 2018

There is one place where truest freedom to reign,

A sanctuary found high up in the skies, its domain.

There, experienced by the most majestic of sprites,

As spirits escape their bonds, in all joy filled flights.

Their hearts soar with the clouds laced high above,

A chance to spread their wings, the winds employ.

In the heights where the air is fresh and is so clean,

Where breaths are purer, of none to deny this joy.

Surpassing bounds of impurity, here all do wish to stay,

Testing the winds, to glide on high, at that break of day.

It's there of strongest powers, in Mother Nature's care,

As in blue skies, all may climb, escape the world, unfair.

My heart so soars with every bird, of spirits all so bright,

Freedom's on origin, found in each, of their every flight.

My wish to join them in true happiness, share their glee,

To twist and turn in the skies, of all the heights, truly free.

For as I walk upon this earth, better days I have had,

Now a time of unhappiness to behold, of feeling sad,

Seeing the terrible results of pollution, of all the greed.

Dying creatures all around, the waste we do not need.

Hope for a better tomorrow, escaping from ills of today,

Maybe is our only chance in life for us each to survive.

Then in joining the wild birds and of freedom's own call,

Perhaps in a unison, only then that we may all to thrive.

Beautiful, thoughtful write whonu. It is a gift to see wild birds in their natural habitat. I am fortunate, where I live, to see these marvelous winged creatures daily, but I wonder if they are finding it hard to survive in compromised eco systems.
