Uncle Ben: The Untold Story (Part 1)

Updated on April 4, 2017

If you ask someone who knows anything about Spider Man, what happened to Uncle Ben they’ll say, “he was shot and killed,” or something along those lines. Yes, obviously this happened. But there is part of the story that no one has ever heard. Do you want to hear it?

There was a woman who called herself the Petra, which means "a mass of connected rock," in Greek. She wanted to turn everything and everyone to stone, so that he would be the queen of the “Stone Age.” She created a plague that would instantly turn anyone who caught it into stone. She made a cure for it for herself so that she wouldn’t turn to stone. The cure just made her more insane. She wanted Spider Man. She thought Spider Man could help her by being her body-guard and stopping everyone who tried to stop her. She knew he loved people, but she thought she could win him over.

The day Peter found his uncle lying on the street with a bullet wound, he was devastated. Then Uncle Ben died in his arms, and he broke. This you probably already know.

At the funeral, no one noticed on the way to the graveyard that the body was taken. The pallbearers were the only ones who knew, but they were paid good money to keep shut, $1,000,000; each.

Inside of her lab, she brought Uncle Ben to life. She thought this would be a gift to Spider Man to make him want to join her. Of course she knew, just as her best friends betrayed her, she would betray him. She asked Spider Man to meet her after the funeral. He came, and she was thrilled. He was wearing his suit, and she was wearing hers. Hers was grey with rocks in the middle that formed “Petra.” She also had a darker grey mask. Even with this on, she was still beautiful, with her pure black wavy hair flowing down her like a beautiful cape. Peter knew she was beautiful, she was the most beautiful person he had ever seen. Even when nothing else looked even remotely pretty, she was amazingly beautiful. But when he looked into her amazing green eyes, he saw a sorrow, a pain, and also in her eyes he saw that she was insane.

“Hello Spider Man”
“Hello. I take it the name is Petra.”
She laughed, “yes. How’d you guess?” She laughed a little more.

“Why are you meeting me?” he said impatiently.

“Ah yes, well I know your uncle just died, and I wanted to make it better.”
“How do you know that? And how could you possibly make it better?”

“By bringing him back.” she smiled a stunning smile that almost made him jump back in shock.

“You can’t do that. No one can bring him back. He is gone.” Peter was almost crying again when she hugged him. She smelled as good as she looked. He cried into her shoulder.

She whispered in his ear, “yes I can.” He looked at her, in her eyes. He could tell she had spent many nights crying.

“Who hurt you?” he asked. She looked at him in shock, but no denial.

“How do you know I’ve been hurt?”

“We all have, but your eyes look like you’re holding something inside that hurt you really bad, and you don’t think you will ever get over it.”
“I will. But I have to take care of something first. That is why I wanted to meet you...will you help me?” She gave him the saddest, pleading eyes he had ever seen. How could he say no?
“I don’t know. I want to, but I don’t know.”
“I’ll pay you. I can bring your uncle back.”

“What do I need to do?”
“Will you do it? I’ve been betrayed by enough people that I need your word that you will do it.”

“Yes. I will do almost anything for my uncle.”
“First I am going to tell you a story. Then you might understand me better.

There woman was named Ebony. She was 30, and had just gotten her doctorate as a geologist. She was in a happy relationship with her fiance, Wiley. She has always been one of the most beautiful girls, and she had known her fiance since 3rd grade when they became best friends. He was nice, funny, cute, and charming. Everything any girl would want. She thought she had it all.

Then on their five year anniversary, 2 months before their wedding, Ebony decided to surprise Wiley. She got everything set up for a romantic dinner. She wanted it to be perfect. She was always the one who forgot, but not this year. She had everything set up and went to his house to pick him up. She had keys, so she walked in. She never had to knock, he just said she could come in anytime. He always knew when she was coming over, because she would text him. She didn’t this time.

She walked in, and went to the living room. She snuck up, because she wanted to scare him. That’s when she saw it. He was sitting on the couch with Lilith, Ebony’s best friend. They were kissing...Ebony gasped, and Wiley and Lilith both looked up in shock. Ebony ran out, crying. They both followed her, and Wiley caught up with her.
‘I’m sorry Ebony!’ He said

‘’re not.’ She said

‘How can you say that? I never wanted that to happen.’
‘How long?’

‘How long have you been with my best friend?’

‘I need to know.’ she placed her hand against her heart, trying to fill the hole that had just been blasted through.

‘Three years.’

‘THREE YEARS? We have been together for five!’
‘I know…’

‘How could you do this to me? I loved you!’
‘I’m sorry…’

‘NO you AREN’T! You would have kept doing it if I hadn’t found out.’
‘We were breaking it off!’

‘Unless the button to break it off was in throat and you had to switch it with your tongue, that is definitely not what that was.’
‘Please forgive me Ebony, I love you.’

‘No. I loved you. I loved her too. You two deserve each other. You would stab your best friend in the back for each other. Leave me alone. I never want to see you again.’ She said that, then ran away. She felt a pain that she had never felt before. The only two people she could trust had betrayed her. She felt a numbness flash through her. When she felt it, she knew it was better than what she was feeling. She let the numbness take over.

She knew she couldn’t trust anyone. All she could think about was when Wiley used to call her a queen. She may not have been his true queen, but soon, she would be everyone’s. She turned all of the love she had for Wiley and put it into hatred. She was consumed with hatred, and she used that to get what she wanted, to be a queen. She now calls herself Petra.”

Peter stared at her in stunned silence. She knew it was quite a story, but seeing someone be so shocked by it made her realize more how crazy it was, and she started to cry. Peter hugged her, and tried to comfort her. She tried to shove him away, but then she grabbed him and hugged him close. He was the first person to try and comfort her after what happened. She pulled back and wiped her tears.

“Now, what do you say about joining me?”
“Well, what are you doing?”

“I have a plague that I am going to set out. It will turn anyone who catches it into stone, immediately.” in that moment, he knew he was right about her being insane.

“Have you thought about it that much? That could kill everyone.” Peter said.

“I know. I told you, I want to be a queen.”

“That won’t make you a queen. That will make you lonely.”

“No. I have been lonely. This will make everything better.”
“Trust me, it won’t.” she glared at him.

“Aren’t you lonely? Your uncle is DEAD. I can fix that! I can bring him back!”

“You don’t believe me do you?”

“No.” she walked over to a box she had in the room the whole time. She pulled a body out. “Is that…?”

She laughed, “yes.” she was so graceful about how she carried herself, even when she was doing some weird stuff. The bullet was already pulled out and sewed up, for the funeral. She grabbed a vial that looked like it was from a story book. She opened Uncle Ben’s mouth, and poured it down his throat. They watched him for a few seconds then he slowly opened his eyes and sat up.

“Where am I?” He said.

“Uncle Ben!” Peter yelled

“Who are you?” Peter took off his mask.

“It’s me, Peter.” Uncle Ben looked up at him and smiled.

“Peter! Why are we here? I just remember that I was going to get in a car, and now I am here…”

“You died.”

“How..? If I died, how am I here?”

“She brought you back.” Peter motioned toward Petra. Uncle Ben was shocked. He didn’t know how that was possible. He couldn’t think of what to say, so he just said,

“What are you wearing?”

“I am Spider Man.” Uncle Ben just stared at him.

“I did what you said…I am using my powers for good. You said with great power comes great responsibility.”

“What power?”

“I have spider powers. I can climb up walls and shoot webs.”

“A spider from a science lab bit me.” Uncle Ben looked at him, then said,

“Why does my side hurt so much? Right here” he felt where his stitches were. “What is that?!”

“You were...shot.”

“What?! WHY? Who would want to shoot me?”

“I don’t know. That is what I’m trying to figure out.”

“I don’t...I don’t understand.”

“Well, Peter, will you join me now?” Petra said

“I...I don’t know. Can I have tonight to think about it?”

“Yes. But after that, I need an answer.”
