Unconditional Love [ A poem for Nana]

Updated on July 21, 2012

A woman splendid, staunch and true

Nana, this is how I think of you

With love to give and more to share

For one and all she had a care

A ready smile, a heartfelt hug

Tea in a cup, or in a mug?

Always the query, something to eat?

A table ready beside my seat

To give, to share… it was her way

With plenty more for another day

Her heart and arms she opened wide

And filled with love said come inside

There’s room for more and love to spare

Leave your troubles and your care

Bask in the warmth of unconditional love

Sent to us from those above

For angels, fairies, cherubs too

All of these surrounded you

A woman splendid, staunch and true

Nana, this is how I think of you

Sheila, thanks for the beautiful poetry which makes me remember my Nana who had a similar personality. I so appreciate verse that actually rhymes.

What a beautiful tribute. My granny radiated love. I always felt better just being near her no matter what was going on. This is wonderful.

Thank you all, Nana was a very special part of my life. My 'adopted' Mother by choice for some twelve or so years, she passed away just after the poem was read to her. We, my adopted siter and I miss her dreadfully and it ia almost a year.

Much of my poetry rhymes, and is mainly 'downloaded' to me, I am currently releasing a book titled Massages from Mikael of spiritual poetry. xoxoxox
