Updated on August 15, 2017

David has had a variety of life experiences which he loves to share with his readers.

Below is a poem about dreams and how we are all addicted to them. I have written a few poems in my life, but to be honest this one is my favorite. I really like it and hope you do as well.

We are all hooked to our dreams.

Under the Influence of Dreams

I’m under the influence of my dreams.
Dreams make me higher than a bird in the sky.
They drop me down into hell itself.
Sleep is the intoxicate of my dreams.

My craving returns each night.
I’m in constant wonder what I will see next.
The habit is never broken.
I am hooked from the day I was born till the day I die.

A bad hit is a real nightmare.
I scream, wake up, and cringe.
I want to quit so much.
Yet I go back each night for another fix.

I see things no drugs can provide.
The experience is almost euphoric.
No one can deny the feeling.
I’m addicted to my dreams.

      Wonderful poem David!

I love my dreams where I can fly

      And sometimes I almost die

      But, I can wake myself

Then go back to sleep with a dreamy sigh.

Great poem, comparing dreams to drug addiction. I can never remember mine so I guess mine are like binge drinking alcohol and not being able to remember what you did the night before.
