WomanChild no Soul for Sale: A Poem

Updated on November 10, 2011

Into the Darkness

Was I really that transparent?

Like a girl with no eyes

In a bus station long ago

Lost with no disguise

You sense my bitter fear

And stalk your wounded prey

Beckoning me near

A bus drove away

How many before

While you stood by the door

And sold your bill of goods:

"Like a princess you are-my own special star"

Like the darkness, you swept me away

Years go by

Tears to cry

From eyes of black & blue

For who do I weep?

A girl not yet grown

Or a child all alone

That no one wants to keep

Oh Wow! I was once at that bus stop myself. So much meaning comes through in this poem for me. Great work!

....so beautifully written my friend because you are such a brave courageous soul and you wear your poetic soul on your sleeve for all to see - this is the kind of writing which gives poetry a good name and this the kind of writing which could only be written by someone as special as you!

And a weather report for you from the north shore of Lake Erie here in Canada with my two cats - Tiffy woman and Gabe man - heavy snow started earlier this evening and will continue all night into Monday morning - thankfully I don't have to drive anywhere until Tuesday so I have a nice relaxing evening with a bit of red wine, a nice dinner, 60 Minutes on CBS and some really loud music - although I did brave the elements and went for a walk along the lakeshore road here and I felt like I was the last man on earth - no one was around - it's quiet here out in the country by the lake.

Have a good evening and please keep writing!

I hope everything is well with you.

I warned you - a bit on the dark side, eh? and I have another very similar...but I started on a hub today that will be more fun-I promise:)

Your Sunday evening sounds absolutely delightful! I am so jealous. Enjoy - I will talk to you soon!

Your poem is so deeply felt and I relate vividly to every word. You have such a gift Kathy. Few writters are able to express so much pain in such a beautiful way.

      You are loved, sweet Kathy!

This was so powerful and heartfelt. We fear for and feel for the vulnerable WomanChild. Your poetic description of this all too common scenario- young, innocent woman being preyed upon by experienced male predator is haunting. Thank you for sharing it.

Thank you HBN, I am so glad that you came by! Your interpretation is quite accurate! Things have changed though, now the seduction occurs online, bus stations are much too inconvenient!

I didn't think of that in connection to your poem but doing so makes the poem even more chilling.
