A balm for weary and hurt minds

Is singing a song of hope

A cure that heals all wounds in time

An ode to one’s gifts, loving ties that bind

Grace and gratitude for all God has given

A balm for weary and hurt minds

Heal the world instrumental

Trust in oneself, and in others kind

Such assurance now provides

A cure that heals all wounds in time

Abandoning the heavy axe that grinds

Healing the nasty cuts from its blade

A balm for weary and hurt minds

Rays of truth and love, so well aligned

Basking in their invigorating warmth

A cure that heals all wounds in time

Faith in the One above, in his design

In the security of his time

A balm for weary and hurt minds

A cure that heals all wounds in time

wow, if only there was a balm that you could use to heal hurt feelings or such. Truly loved this and made me sit up think this Monday morning. Again, you write poetry so beautifully and powerfully. Wonderful job as always and have of course voted up and shared all over!!

Really nice poetry, Michelle. I think the feelings must be hurt to bring us the low points, so we can truly appreciate the high points when they arrive. Life is about maintaining, and sometimes that creates a shell. We don't let things get close to us for fear of them leaving us after attachments are formed. It may be a self defense "balm" in its own right. Great Job!

Now you've just made me think, too, Janine! Wish a balm could really make the problems go away, but the process usually takes a little longer than that! Thanks for sharing!

As they say, we have to take the hard knocks before we learn, Richard. Self defense is indeed a balm for hurt minds! Thanks for sharing.

The repetition is a strong tool in poetry, and this flows beautifully. I follow a Hubber by the name of Amy Becherer....your probably know her....and she used repetition quite well....and you have done a wonderful job with it in this poem.

Villanelles use lots of repetition to make the message stick. Thanks for taking note of the flow, BIll, it's sometimes not easy to connect ideas within a poetic structure! Thanks for coming by!

Lovely poem Michelle. Honestly, didn't know what villanelle was. Googled it to find out. Lovely poem. Awesome pictures and dividers too. Cheers, Rema.

I'm not familiar with Villanelle poetry, but I did enjoy this very much. I see there is a related Hub on how to write this kind of poetry.

You are very talented, my friend.

      Voted this UP, etc.

Hi Rema, thanks for checking it out! Villanelles are very lovely examples of repetitive poetry that is used to send a message. 19 lines, 1st and 3rd repeated in alternate verses. I am so glad that you have enjoyed it! Thanks for coming by!
