UPON the RIDGE....

Blood red leaf like flowers

Forge splashes of colour across the open plain

Wilful, refined and noble

He holds the reins close to his frame.

The ridge top flickers with red flames,

Casting shadows on her ivory skinned body

As she bends over, tenderly and tentatively,

Revealing a garden bed lush with folly

Lying fallow are seed burrs

Mirroring the blindness of her flaws,

Passion aroused whiting out her vision,

She gasps, it may not be the chosen straw

There stands the door of Aleph,

Betrayal, loss and sadness lies there,

His light zig zags across the plains,

Speak now or all will not be fair

Wading through the crisp pool of blue

Feelings surge and envelope her heart,

The Pine Trees whistle their call,

His soul awaits the reassert

What are your favourite trees?

The poem was inspired by this flower, the Australian Sturt Desert Pea. Its also one of our Australian Bush Flower Essences. It is said to have natural healing properties.
