Upon The Verge (poem)

Updated on July 25, 2016

My life felt so completely rearranged

The walls once tall were crumbling down on me

And all I thought I knew became estranged

Till there was only one place left to flee

Then all I needed was a homeless man

Insisting that I buy some news from him

As he now blocked my pathway to the plan

I bought his wares so I could end my swim

At last I came to stand upon the verge

Of questions which are best left to unknown

When suddenly was taken by some urge

To read what other people had just sown

I read about a man who died today

And all the people which he left behind

The stars put on a beautiful display

While winds across my cheek can be so kind

      Certainly powerful musings.
