Us Boastful Flesh - Poem About Life
Take a good look upon your flesh which surrounds your bone
It is weak, fragile, easily torn
Many of us seem to believe that we are above others
But the truth is that we are all equal brothers
We hustle daily to survive while some worship the earthly distractions
Then we build walls based on our life status, and to our self conceit, we become our own attractions
We become so busy with work, our new car, social media, we forget about what really matters
Neglecting the earth, neglecting to understand that we are our brothers keepers
People make millions each year and boast with their earthly possessions
But will never give a dime to an old beggar because they didn't put him in that situation
But how long will us flesh continue to boast?
How long do you think you have left to pop that champagne, laugh and toast?
Are you in control of your own life, will you self heal if you are ill?
The burglar that robbed your families home, did your boastful flesh stop that kill?
You maybe worth millions, and posses everything many people want
But where is your true power? do you run to the pharmacy when you get a cold, a terrible cough?
Yes, money is needed, it can buy you freedom and many friends
But that paper and ink can't change your destiny no matter how your future ends
It cannot stop being diagnosed with the worst
It cannot stop your loved ones from being placed under the earth
We are merely human beings, boastful and distracted by unimportant things
Money, looks, fame, cars, diamond rings
But when our flesh as taken it's toll and call it quits
All our boasting comes to naught, and there is nothing left to fix
So be humble, be kind
Young, old, rich or poor, you may never know when it is your time.
