Vampire Books - Which ones to read!

Updated on November 13, 2009

Ok, so I like millions of others have been bitten by the Vampire Bug. I'm loving all the lore, and the differences in some of the books I have read, and I really need some more suggestions on good books to go with. Now please keep in mind, I listen to audiobooks, so my list is very limited, comparatively. I already know about a lot of the books, but I want solid recommendations from those that have read some really great ones!

I have read some good series, and still have quite a few more books to check out in the Sookie Series (True Blood), but I want more variety. The Sookie Series has A LOT of books in the series, and I need to switch up my reading a little more. Plus, in addition to the books I am watching the HBO series True Blood, and I think I'm on Sookie overload! The audio books are a little hard to listen to due to the use of an incredibly annoying FAKE southern accent. The content is great though, but their is a lot of sex in the books as well, which I'm not that much a fan of.

In addition to The Sookie Series, I have read all the audio books available in the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead. These books are really good, and I am anxiously awaiting the fourth book to come out in audio format. I must know what happens with Rose looking for Dimitri, and I really want to see how Mead fits the characters together without the use of St. Vladamir's Academy, but time restrictions limit my reading choices, and it stinks!

And I can’t have a post without mentioning Twilight! Twilights New Moon comes out November 20th, and I am really excited. I haven’t read (er… listened) to the books yet, and I’m really excited to see it played out. I am still on the waiting list for the first book Twilight, and so until I get that I can’t start reading this series, but its on my list.

So basically, if you are reading this, and you have read some good Vampire books, please give me suggestions. I would love to hear them, and see what you have to say about them. You can always check out my site for a more in depth review of some of the books I have read. I haven’t gotten to any of the Sookie reviews yet, but The Vampire Academy Series Reviews are done and up.

Try Silentheart, the first of a vampire trilogy. Book two, Calm Madness is due out soon. By a first time author with twists and surprises every vampire lover will appreciate.

If you're reading vampire novels, I believe everyone should read Bram Stoker's "Dracula" and the Anne Rice books!

There's also L. J. Smith's "Nightworld" series of books, which also includes witches, werewovles and soulamtes. An excellent read
