When you left me

I thought it would be unbearable

My world would come crumbling around me

That my sorrow would seem incomparable

I would miss feeling special

Sought after, by someone

Miss the attention and compliments

For which, the world, I began to shun

I thought my life would be an ellipsis

That I would desperately try to replace you

But no, my dear, if anything

I have just learnt to see things through

I do not need to feel loved, or beautiful

Or cry to show that I truly care

Or mope and try to resort

To abandon and utter despair

No! I just found out

That I have the will and sense

To see nothing has changed

It begins as it ends

Still I am the same

Given to the same faults and flaws

Still, there are people beside me

And there is no gaping loss

I find the air and the sky beautiful

I cherish the ones I have

I look forward to every day

And know life’s not suave

Yet I bear you no resentment

You taught me I am no different

To anyone who’s been loved

And have had their hearts rent

Where a void once used to be

A mistaken idea of perfection

A need to have company

I have acceptance and reflection

My time may come some other day

When I lose my heart to another

But if that someone too leaves

I shall not wilt and wither

Tis indeed better to have loved

And lost, so that you know

All life is a slow-moving trickle

People come and they go

Yes! It is always to better to accept what we can't change, isn't it? There is much more to life than just romantic love. Thank you for your lovely comments Gypsy Rose Lee! Have a great day!
