Samuel Malik Canty: the Word Bird. I am the author of Four Poetry Books, I understand my Purpose, and my words are my proof...

The screams came from some crevice of the soul, trapped and weakened from generations of failures and struggles that came from the residue of slavery.

Agony and disappointment tried to mate with you, sending you in the streets and away from the Kingdom of your mind.

Who hears your screams?

Who hears the screams in your soul when the Pressure gets to be too much and you lash out with anger, with violence, even against the ones you should love?

Who hears your screams?

When your money is not enough, when you can’t sit and be comfortable in your own home, when your mate looks at you with eyes of disappointment and unleash Words that Cuts your Manhood into little pieces…

Who hears your screams?

When your children don’t respect you because they are following the lead of your mate?

When Society feels obligated to keep you regulated and under strict watch?

Who hears your screams?

In the middle of the night, when no one is watching and you break down and weep and scream to God and scream at God.

Warrior, descendant of nation builders, some have sought to keep you in mental bondage and break you so that you neglect and not protect your family.

Who hears your screams?

Your woman has been taught that it is a sign of weakness when you can’t provide.

Your children look to you for strength when running seems to be the only thing on your mind.

Does your Queen hear your screams?

Coming from the bottom of the ocean floors, coming from the hangman's trees, coming from the burning of your flesh, castration of your manhood, separation of your family.

Truth lies in wait for you...

Scream! Scream!

Let it come from the gut so that racism backs-up and the rest of the men wake-up and confront their fears.

Much has been written, much has been said and it’s all because you have been misled and treated as if you were mentally dead.

Who hears your screams?

Howling with the winds, mixing with the hurricanes and tornadoes making the waves rise.

Scream for the spirit of Amadou Diallo, Scream for the spirit of James Byrd, Trayvon Martin, and all those others Victims of Crimes, that boggles the mind…

Scream for the Men and Boys lost on the corners searching for Utopia. Searching for Self through Drugs and avoiding those who Truly Love Them…

Take a stand…Take a stand… It’s the only way the screaming will Stop…
