Waking Up Is Impossible To Do

Updated on November 20, 2015

After Working In The Yard All Day

It was yesterday morning

The temperature is between 45 and 50

A chill in the air and leaves everywhere

The last of the little paper ornaments

Have decorated the ground nicely

It was my job to pick them all up

Like I was a street sweeper without a street

The person who cleans up after a birthday party

With tiny little bits of confetti covering the floor

The people who clean up a stadium after a football game

It is my job to make sure the whole place is clean

All I have to do is bend and lift

Then bend again

Then repeat five thousand times

Easy enough

I put them in large paper lawn bags

To save time I rake them first in mini piles

Then I reach with my hands and try to grab as many as I can

A surprise wind knocks the leaves from my hands back to the bare ground

Giving me a second chance to do it again

I use to rake the leaves in big piles

Then overwhelmed by the sight

Little piles give me small accomplishments along the way

Some of the leaves I mulch

I have an electric mulching mower that chops up the leaves

It works great

I have two make three or four passes over the leaves

Grinding them smaller and smaller each time

Now I take these leaves and use them as mulch

Around plants along the drive way and around the house

This takes more time

In the long run helps the plants

Recycles the leaves

I take some leaf crumbs and scatter them across the grass

Like adding powdered sugar on the top of pizzele cookies

They will feed the grass nutrients during the winter

There are too many leaves so I only mulch only half

Working through lunch

Trying to make the most of every hour

Finally pushed to stop

When the light turned dark

The time now is 4:45

I scramble to put my lawn mower away

Within minutes the whole place is black

I did what I set out to do

More than half way done

Tomorrow I know my body will feel it

Which is now today

So I lay still and my body sore from head to toe

Combining exercise and beauty together

Exercise is good

Keeping my body in shape

Keeping the yard beautiful

Is a wonderful sight

Even when the summer is over when the grass and plants die off

Nature is lovely

During all seasons of the year

Annart I love typos. They remind me we are all human and try our best. I run out of time in my comment and hit change and it stays unfixed. Oops. Your one mistake is equal to my thousand mistake mark. (Ha,ha) Thank you for being special. Don't forget to take a walk. Have fun. Maybe take in a movie.

Just seen a terrible typo in my comment! It should read 'Your writing echoes lots of life's little chores and feelings.' I usually proof-read my comments but obviously missed that one - the editbot will get me!

I've wasted time over a failed business too - it's not nice and others suffer but one learns from experience.

annart I was never afraid of work. At one time I worked three jobs for over ten years. Always busy with no time to think. Now I have slowed down only one job and writing to explain who I am and why I do what I did. I dreamed Big. I had desire and will power. Things didn't come together.i didn't find the right people to make it happen. Life and people are more than I could comprehend. My dreams came crashing down so I can rebuild them the second time around. Bigger and better than before. Ideas take time and patience. More than anything they take love. Thank you for reading and sharing. A good workout gives me a head rush. What could be and how to make it possible. My only regret is all the time I spent working it took away from time with my family. My mom and dad and so many I cared about are no longer here. That's the price you pay for almost success. I ask myself every day Is it worth it. I am not sure.

It is satisfying to do things like that and see the results but very tiring! It's nice when exercise has caused the tiredness. Somehow it makes you feel better! Your written echo lots of life's little chores and feelings. Great stuff!

Gypsy Rose Lee We keep the heat on in our house at 65 degrees so it's a bit nippy but we don't get tired from having it too hot. We have an electric heater that we put on to make it warmer if we are watching t.v. or before bed. Thank you for reading and commenting.

After our first snow fall and the terrible cold all I want to do is stay in bed and sleep. I attempt to get up and I do all I have to do but my bed is constantly calling me. You see we have an old and drafty house and except for two rooms the hallways and the rest you sort of rush through.
