Was Nursery Rhymes a moral lessons from past centuries?

Updated on September 19, 2011

Was Nursery Rhymes written to pass on a moral lesson from past centuries?

They were read to us when we were young, however as an adult you just have to wonder,

what side affect it played on us mentally.

My favourite nursery rhymes is the Pipe Piper of Hamelin by Robert Browning, this nursery rhymes,

set my mind in motion, whenever some crooked politicians or Major try to pull a fast one over the city,

lately it was announce that city workers didn't get paid for cleaning up the snow, during those awful winter months of January and February 2011.

this poem always always comes to mind. Our city is being infested with the bedbugs, and they have been so many talk about what is being used to get rid of them.. or what not to used,( so once again I thought of the Pipe piper of Hamelin.

here is an example of the .

Hamelin Town's in Brunswick,

by famous Hanover city:

The river Weser , deep and wide

washes it's wall on the southern side,

A pleasanter spot you never spied;

but, when begins my ditty,

almost five hundred years ago,

to see the townsfolk suffer so from vermin, was a pity,

Rats the fought the dogs and kill the cats,

and bit the babies in the cradle.

here is an poem telling us about an epidemic of rats who infested a town many years ago,

it might a fable, but somehow it is reality for us today in of two thousand and eleven.

when technology is at its greatest peak, some of the greatest chemistry major graduated from colleges.

and yet the rats and the bedbugs, continues to our lived most of us.

So do we need magic to solve our problems, said one of the council member"

He advanced to the council-table and said

Please your honors "I m able,

by means of a secret charm, to draw

all creatures living beneath the sun, creep swim or fly or run

after me, so as you never saw!

and I chiefly use my charm,

on creatures that do people harm,

the mole and the toad and newt and viper.

here this magical Pipe Piper was selling his ideas to town hall full of business men from various corporation executives, After longs hours of bargaining he was able to convinced them that he had the secret to all they problem. and so the councilmen and the Major went ahead and give the Pipe piper permissson

get rid of all the rats, however, when it was time to paid the piper, they refused to live up to their agreement... so what happened next was a devastating.

Another poem that might be a nursery rhymes, but it's reality,

Once there was an old woman who lived in a shoe

she had so many children, she did not know what to do.

she give them some broth without any bread and whip them

and send them to bed.

About a year ago, the media was having a feed day with the Octomom Nadya-Denise Doud-Suleman an American woman who come to international attention when she give birth to octuplets in January of 2009 , she conceived the octuplets, she had already had six older children,by via Vito fertilisation.

the last updated on her was "she was running out of money to feed her family."

Jack Sprat could eat no fat,

his wife would eat no lean,

and so between them both you see,

they lick the platter clean, this nursery rhymes is just a typical every day problem in some household

with some family members, one have hypertension, the other is on a strict diet, and in the end it all works out well.

Mary had a little lamb

it feet was white as snow

and every where that Mary went the lamb

was sure to go, it follow her to school one

which was against the rules,

it made the children laugh and play to see a lamb at school,,

Many of our children is taking their Game boy and Nintendo and all kinds of Ipod and lately the cell phones to school which is

very disruptive in classroom, preventing other children from focusing on they class work

which causes a lot of uproar, children are being send to the principal offices, and most of the time many of the electronics gadgets have to be taken away from our children.. Sometimes they are return to them at the end of the school day or a family member have to go to the school to collect them, I personally had to go to my daughter'sschool to collect her, cell phone and Ipod, from the principal office.

Twinkle, twinkle little star

how i wonder where you are

like a diamond in the sky,

man cannot wait to explore those diamonds in the sky

or beyond the galaxy .. he would be forever wonder if there is really diamond in the sky,

as astronauts goes into space.. or our aircraft goes into blue wild yonder..

last but not least, another favourite of mine

Ride a cock horse

to cranberry cross, to see a fine lady get on a white horse

with rings on her finger and bell on her toes ,

she shall music, where ever she goes,

your celebrities stars you so dearly admired and come to love likeLady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce, will always be admired where ever they goes, instead of the white horses it is the limousines, rolling down the street in this century, so nursery rhymes, is revealing so much to us from pass centuries

Most nursery Rhyme do have a subtle meaning. Ring around the rosie was about the plague. Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary was about Queen Mary. I like how you attribute them to modern times. Well-done voting up!
