Was It A Kiss (poem)

Updated on August 19, 2012

Was it a kiss now calling me return

Those fields of summer now so long ago

Where flowers bloomed amid a lover’s glow

Another sip of Joy our sole concern

-

A simple kiss if simple kiss can be

That calls us to those nights beneath our moon

So endless were those paths to lovers’ tune

Another dream to form a memory

-

A symbol this that everything is right

The winds of trials and strain have gone at last

Those hidden scars bear marks to lovers’ past

Another dawn now promises delight

-

Was it a kiss this gift that came from you

Or just some silly thing that lovers do

What is behind the kiss, or is it simply a kiss, bringing back lucid memories of summer nights...thanks for sharing

It is fascinating to think about the kiss as a symbol. What a play on it you have done here, great job! I wonder where it first came from -- as being a symbol of love? Enjoyed the read.

A feel good without tragedy at the end. You knew I was waiting for it to change! lol

Great job! Enjoyed it, and feel there's more lurking about than meets the eye within!

The last two lines "Was it a kiss this gift that came from you, Or just some silly thing that lovers do" I think they're now my favorite lines of poetry ever! You are such a versatile poet! So funny then romantic then serious... I adore your range ^_^

Beautiful poem. I agree with TToombso8, innocent on the surface, but there's so much more between the lines.

Great poem, Mhatter! Sweet, slightly innocent but hints at more.
