Wasteland/a poem

Updated on August 3, 2013

I walk in a wasteland of wounded hearts, broken dreams, and souls torn apart.

Somewhere in the carnage my spirit is bleeding and bruised, my body beaten, I’m lost and confused.

I tried to love but was turned away and rejected. I gave everything but was abused and neglected.

Bitter tears sting my eyes, I told the truth, but received only lies.

You knocked me down, and here I remain, in a world of darkness, feeling emptiness, and pain.

I am haunted by memories I can’t deny, and so many times I break down and cry.

But one day with courage, I will eventually stand, I’ll find my way to hope, and out of this wasteland.
