Watch Your Step

Updated on June 13, 2013

Do You Smell Something ?

I was walking along and something happened

Something I did not expect

It took me by surprise and brought tears to my eyes

I really wanted to cry

It wouldn't go away

No matter how hard I tried to look the other way

It was here to stay

My stomach began to turn

People that walked by laughed and stared

Some people even had a look of utmost fear

I tried to run but it didn't help

Nothing I did seem to work

So as I held my breath and tried to think

I seen a skunk and he walked by and turned

Boy do you stink

wink wink

shanmarie I like when people have to guess what I am talking about.I am a mystery poem writer. That loves to make people smile in the end.Sometimes it works sometimes I am left with egg on my face.As long as you get to laugh.I am happy.Have a great day.

shanmarie When I first wrote this it was about a time I stepped in dog mess and no matter what I tried the aweful smell wouldn't go away.I remember washing my sneakers and still the smell lingered.I think a pet skunk would be cool.Thanx so much for reading and sharing.

Not quite what I expected, but what an ending! I keep saying I'll have a pet skunk some day. I wonder if that would be the standard reaction - of the skunk to me, that is. haha

No laugh on you! Maybe with you, but not in a bad way!

There are no disastrous choices, so long as one is alive - just some are less disastrrous and better than others. BEING alive in the moments we have to keep on keepin' on is the real test of the value of our days. Fretting about 'fault' is useless. Just looking at what happened to sort out value to be used next time is very useful! It's how each of us has learned what we know since birth! Hugs, dear friend!

By the way - the foot you have IS your best one! What is there to compare what IS to? What isn't? naw . .

So if it can be improved, - then, work on that; - but be assured that the one you have - has carried you from the start to NOW and will carry you forward!

Feet are smart. hehe - they do not prefer to stumble and get into briers! ;-)

Nellieanna I always thought each day put my best foot forward. Some days one step might just be in the wrong spot.Live and learn. My father use to say look where your walking. That lasts for awhile then I get lazy and sure enough I do it again. It's my own fault.I guess sometimes we never learn.Thanx for reading and having a good laugh on me.
