Set aside time every day to write!

In order to be a good writer and eventually make money doing it, you must be passionate about it. That means that you are not just in it for the money but are doing something you love and must do every day, like breathing. And, If you are doing what you are passionate about eventually the money will come.

In order to hone your skills as a writer, first, of course, you must write. That means setting aside time each and every day to write about something. Preferably, something you know about or, at least, something you like. That will make the process easier.

Secondly, you must be prepared to do your homework. Writers call this research. Today, with the internet at our fingertips, research is easier than ever. Get to know,, and also and Wikipedia is an amazing research knowledge bank where you can learn about anything and everything. Google and will bring up all of the websites with the keywords you are looking for and of course, every great writer must have correct spelling and perfect English grammar and that is where Dictionary and will come in handy.

Writing can be a solitary experience so be sure to get out of the house and be an observer of life and people. Read, read, read everything you can get your hands on and, watch the news, CNBC and CNN so you know what is going on in the world. Also, in order to be a great writer, you must be a good listener, observer and also ask a lot of questions about life such as why, when, where.....but most importantly, just keep writing. The more you write, the better you will get.

On the practical side, in order to make money, you must build credibility. Therefore, writing here on Hubpages is a great start as well as getting published for free. Once you have work published, you can set up a website and then link that site to samples of the work you have had published.

Remember, do what you are passionate and the money will come. In the meantime.....just keep on writing, don't take yourself too seriously and, most of all have fun!
