I Am Right Back Where I Started

Updated on March 14, 2011

A lesson In Time

When I was young I use to think I had all the time in the world

I could go anywhere and when I got older I could do anything

There was nothing holding me back

Just my own desires for what I wanted and how soon I wanted it

Then as I grew a little older the simple picture became more and more blurry

My new responsibilities brought on new insights and direction

New thoughts brought on new prospects and even more thoughts

Now the simplest tasks became a list of endless neccessities that had to be completed

As our roles also changed we soon forgot some of the old values and soon we made a new set of rules to follow

As old grandfather clock continued to do what he has always done

Make time for everyone

But now we look back and we notice how certain things were put on a shelf for a rainy day

Other things were dragged through th mud again and again

So now we can see where we have been and how far we have come

Taking a clear view of what has happend in our lives so we can see something very special

Like the history that we made was short lived and if all else fails

We begin again but this time we won't settle for less

It is going to be tough

But remember nothing is impossible as long as you try your hardest

Then when you least expect it

Things can change once again

Making life more important than ever

Since we gave everything we had to make this moment anything but sad

So life is for the willing, ready and capable

My hats of to the people who's names are written in books

Who change the way we look

At everything I couldn't control

But some way they made it and did it their way

Rhonda Waits I am working on it.I am slow at change but it is the only way to move forward. My past failures still haunt the heck out of me.It is more like the big bad wolf in Little Ride Riding Hood is still chasing me.It just takes time. Thanks for all the help.

Hi DREAM ON I enjoyed this hub. Life is full of changes. We can't change our past, it is the past. We can and should change our futures. I recently wrote a poem about change and what it means to us. Check it out if you would like. Voted up.

      Sweet wishes Rhonda

I hope Wayne Brown doesn't mind. Below is an excerpt of a comment he wrote on one of my hubs. I think it is beautiful, and it is appropriate for a response to your thoughtful piece:

We grow so much when we become conscious of self, when we begin to question our own actions, attitudes, directions, and dedications. When we do that, we immediately have the opportunity to become a better person. . . We are all here for a reason and I think that reason is for us to find a way to co-exist in a spirit of harmony and religious thanksgiving. Life is a wonderful thing and ours to direct due to the graciousness of the Lord. We should do as much as we can with it and be the best that we can do or be in this conscious life. . .

God loves a tryer. That is an expression we hear so often here in Ireland..... It is so nice to connect to you once again., You are static, You dont even change your profile picture. For people like me, that are ever changing, and never really know who they are going to be next.... it is great that the stable ones are always out there, and are good friends, even though we never meet them in person. May do a bit of writing like i once did, you never know, just watch this space.... Any suggestions for a topic....

Oh so true, sometimes sad, but regrets are a waste of our energy. Forward go! Do our best and forget the rest. xxxx

Vietnamvet68 Thank you for finding me and it is a pleasure to share my thoughts with you.I am always searching for a way to get ahead in life and many times I end up going down another path that leads backwards.I will keep trying.Darlene Sabella I was convinced that life would bring all I wanted but in tough times I wonder where and how I can make it come.I still struggle with trying to be better and make things easier for others and myself.Thank you both for your wonderful comments.

As we journey through life through the twist and turns we make many decisions and head in many directions sometimes backtracking along the way making our history as we move along. A very insightful write, enjoyed reading.

      God Bless
