We Went Too Far (poem)

Updated on June 26, 2017

They say that we were never meant to be

A couple who could share a common dream

That we would never know a gentle stream

So spoke the stars of our calamity

Thus from our steam they often heard our scream

As loved moved in to keep us company

And we both learned just what it meant to Me

To find a scheme to grow a unique theme

We went too far with thoughts to challenge stars

Who called upon cruel fate to take their side

Before he marred our heart with further scars

He hung his head in shame and softly cried

He told the stars the secret which was ours

Who marvel at a love which once was tried
