Weep for Willow

Updated on April 9, 2015

My wife and I run a Portland Oregon Non-Profit called Hope's Healing Hearts where we make weighted hearts for women who have lost their babies to Miscarriage, Stillbirth, SIDS or other forms of infant loss. Miranda(one of the mothers we have become close friends with) lost her sweet daughter Willow. After speaking with hear at a workshop and viewing precious pictures and videos of Willow I was later inspired to write this for her.

I weep for Willow.
A sullen breeze blows through outstretched fingertips,
Morning returns a bloodshot sunrise,
The sparrows song drowned by chest pounding questions bursting from within,
The how.
The why.
At what cost my life shredded and dreams eclipsed.

Stretched over the balcony I reach to heaven,
Forsaken the question begets more,
Ocean sea breezes brush your name through me,
As at low tide I paint in the sands,
One hour
One minute
One microsecond more.

Draped around my heart,
Your memories encompass and consume,
Growing taller and deeper with every reflection,
My soul providing nutrients,
Nurtured by teary eyed droplets of dew,

Until our time
I'll feel you rain down in radiant sunbeams aglow,
As in your name I take each morning breath,
Stepping forth once more
A small step...
In memory of my dear.. sweet.. Willow
