"Rerun"

There is me

There is you

I guess that makes us

The same

Spinning on this earth, whom do we appoint blame

For the monotony of breath

Repeating the process over and over and over and over

Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out...again

Stuck in the boredom of phenomena

Silence, with it's deafening hollow waves

Crashing into my ear

Take me out, anywhere but here

Stick me on a barbed wire fence in WWII

Bullets flying hissing, metal shrapnel kissing

Flesh, sweet hot pain reminding

Death letting us know we are alive with a sloppy kiss

All the bodies of before have never seen a war like this

The one waged inside the mind

Thinking, thinking, plotting, scheming

Thinking, thinking, jotting, dreaming

Of something new

A breath of fresh air to fill my lungs

Still.... I sit, frozen in place

A blank look on this face

Petrified to make a move

It's hard, believe me I wood love to

Delete my data that has desensitized me into darkness

Where nothing is real and nothing is fake

Reprogramming this 79 model isn't worth the time it'll take

Reluctant to commit myself, so let the world dub me insane

Experiences, buzzing around in my brain

Sticking with me, sweet honey drips from my pen

The only weapon I know, from the only war I've been

The one we were born into

The fight

Waging on, raging on

This stage

Never

Ever

Changing

Constantly

A great write Eric. The thoughts and feelings you expressed here is hoe I feel a lot of the time. I fight my wars with a pen, because unlike my father, uncles, grandfather, I never fought in any 'real' wars. We see more death and destruction now because the media brings the world to us, and we can show outrage and sympathy, but our mundane life goes on unchanged never the less. We strive for adventure and excitement, but how many of us take the risk and go in search of it. Great poem, voted up.

There does seem to be a war waging in our minds all the time. Sometimes I feel as if my mind is always plotting and scheming trying to figure things out or wondering why ? it is an exhausting process. Voted up !

You said it Dana, exhausting, but then the mind refreshes ad we get the joy of feeling new for a moment or two.

Thanks for stopping by, as always.
