What Are My plans

Updated on November 6, 2013

To Conquer My World

It sounded so powerful and strong

To be able to do something so bold

Truth be told

I am only going to conquer my yard

It is leaf time again and they out number me three to four hundred to one

To many to count maybe a thousand to one

With those odds I have to be brave

I normally have help from my wife

She came down with a cold and is feeling under the weather

I just got word help is not coming and I am on my own

As I look out the odds are constantly getting worse

More leaves are falling

So it is my best interest to attack and attack now

I can't wait to night fall then they would also have a distinct advantage

It will be dark and I will be surrounded on all sides

I figure I will tackle the back yard where they are scattered and thin

In the front yard they have piled high and are a real challenge

One neighbor is not home and my other neighbor is elderly and is looking for help too

I see the enemy regrouping and sending for reinforcements

As the trees in the field are still full and could fall at any moment

I was going to attack earlier before sunrise but the wind was blowing and the resistance was strong

Now the wind has left and when it will return I don't know

With my rake in my hand and with a large stack of leaf bags by my side I will go out

Prepared to fight

I have dressed in layers with a sweatshirt and a jacket

Yard gloves for protection against hidden booby traps

I might find surprises I couldn't even imagine

The time is a little afternoon

I have eaten a late breakfast and have planned my best strategy

Well rested and filled with lots of enthusiasm and bottled up energy

I am rearing to go

I just got an instant message from my wife

The time you get out there it will time to go

I am on my way

I am thinking about this once I am out there I can't go back

I will not let my wife's negative thoughts distract me from my true purpose

She says she is just telling me the facts

I am not so sure

I feel the underlying message in her tone

So I am empowering myself to go

I don't need a reminder of the chances of me coming back

At least any time soon

Gypsy Rose Lee I enlisted my wife to help me. She is still trying to get rid of her cold. I told her when she is feeling good again we are going to use the L.R.P. program. The leave raking program to tackle any leaves that are left. Being creative and getting things done at the same time is always a challenge. Thank you for reading and sharing.

And they will keep on blowing and piling at your feet in a never ending journey of labor and rake....

Sparklea The leaves are not gone but the sun has finally set.The time is a little before five and it's already dark. Exhausted after hours of struggle I am happy to report great progress has been made. Too early to see who is going to be victorious .I will wash up and carefully reorganize and get ready for tomorrow. Kathryn Stratford And a battle it is. I have to watch my back and access any damage. So much can change in twenty four hours. It was in the high 60's.After four long hours I had to stop and make camp. Tomorrow is another day. Thank you both for reading and sharing.

I love how you make raking leaves seem like a battle. The leaves in the backyard of the place I am living now is full of leaves, and the caretaker here has quite the job. It's amazing how their can be so many on the ground, and still many more that could fall and take the place at any time.

Thanks for sharing this with us, and have a great night! Good luck with the leaves, and enjoy the weather.

I can't wait to read the next chapter of your leaf saga! I would have had to have a great night's sleep, 2-3 cups of coffee, and thick gloves to prevent blisters! Sooo, are the leaves gone?:) Great write, I could picture it all. Blessings, Sparklea :)
