What Beauty is

By Tony DeLorger ©2011

What beauty is,

cannot be defined

with the bias of form,

for beauty is

that which remains

after time has ravaged,

after life has bled dry,

after hopes are dashed,

dreams are quashed,

and love is lost.

Beauty is the core

of oppression,

of betrayal,

of loss,

and at then end,

still radiates the perfection

and purity of life.

Beauty is the smile

of understanding,

the hand

of compassion,

and the stance

of unconditional love.

Beauty is the struggle

after the storm,

the sacrifice

for nothing gained,

and the bed

of lovers.

Beauty is that

which transcends

the physical,

elevates the mind

and imbues the heart

with hope.

Beauty

is eternal,

unfailing,

and in expression,

the recognition

of love.

Thanks Binaya. True, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and love is the purest expression of beauty. Thanks for reading

I think beauty is a relative concept that depends on cultures and countries. But when we talk about beauty of love it is same everywhere. Nice poem.
