What Breaks Can Be Whole

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Broken dreams like gravel beneath our feet,

create a path to a life so discrete,

the jagged past becomes smooth with time,

and leads us to ends unimagined, sublime.

For life knows all the pain to feel,

the twisted experiences that at end reveal,

what truly finds a heart like ours,

and opens life and joy allows.

So easy in life to lose our way,

that rocky path of struggle and dismay,

with bleeding feet and will repressed,

to leave the path and vie for rest.

Yet that path is all that life allows,

refusal simply strife endows,

with purpose full and mind alive,

we must pursue and accept and learn, derive.

As harsh as it so often seems,

life is but a self-made dream,

the end is our to fashion best,

the path the challenge of our conquest.

For whatever is broken can become whole,

in life there’s no loss just balance retold,

and we at the mercy of our cynical minds,

must surrender to hope and of love remind.

I love this poem. It snaps me back to reality. My dreams in the past or should I say the past three months have entered the very state of stagnation. At times it seem as if I were fooling myself believing I'm something when there was no type of monetary evidence. That's until I came across this beautiful community. Here I am able to display my dream anytime doing the day and recieve constructive critisicism while at the same time link with other profound writers(such as you and many others) which is worth far beyond monetary gain.
