What Flag for This America?: a Poem

Updated on July 30, 2017

Val is a life-long student of the psycho-philosophy of living and a devoted practitioner of many techniques that enhance personal evolution.

Like a bunch of spoiled, capricious kids

raising their voices as in out of tune song

each asking for respect of their own needs

they make their demands overly strong.

On this tag-of-war they are thriving

with dark passion resembling sheer hate

looking more like drifting than arriving

with a sound prediction of this country's fate.

Democracy is turning into a farce

merciless dictating becoming a norm

like everyone has fallen down from Mars

perpetuating this crazy political storm.

No one seems to listen to a reason

each sticking to their affiliation

while there is no bigger form of treason

than weakening the spirit of the nation.

What flag should represent this great land

and should it have red stars mixed with blue

for if those stars spell unity, it's of a new brand

not anymore one that's proud and true.

It's a good poem, Val, too bad there is a need for it to be written.
