What I See Is A Snow Covered Bridge

Updated on January 16, 2011

A Reminder To All

Over in a distance I see a spectacular sight

A bridge covered in snow what a wonderful structure

It has been weathered and worn but stands tall and fearless

Many people have walked over through the ages with little thought

This bridge has been flawless

Time and time again relentess in doing its job well

There has never been a question of its purpose or its intention

The men who made it were well skilled and talented

They knew what they wanted and did what they said they would

They built a monument to let people know life is alive and well

It is a place where we pass from one place to another

Many times in a hurry or not paying attention to where we are going

The amazing thing is we always seem to find our way

In all types of bad weather

The rain that gets us wet to the bone

The wind that makes us run for cover

The sun that burns us like a lobster

The snow that covers us like a blanket in the freezing cold

But we continue to do what we have in the past

Move on and travel from place to place

Seeing a new world emerge every spring

I look below and see a rocky edge that could be fatal

I see a current that could bring the strongest men to their demise

Other times I see a beauty that I never saw before

The colors of the water that blend to a perfect color every time

Choppy or rippled but admired for their naturalistic beauty

Admired so close in the safety of this old bridge

Each time we cross it we depend on faith that it will serve us well

In the past it has never dissappointed us or let us down

For it is the bridge of life that keeps calling us

To walk and see all there is to see

To take every challange just as I have gracefully

I don't have to boast

I don't have to do anything except what I have always done

Be faithful and loyal to all that come to visit

If it is a small child or an elderly person

You have come to me for help

You each have different intensions in life

But no matter what direction you go and how much success you reach

I will always welcome for you to walk, run or just enjoy my tremendous view

You can see me as a dark shadow in the night

You can admire my great detail

You can thank the men for building me

I am lonely without your presence

When I am used I have reached my greatest potential

I am the grandest of them all

As I watch over you with great care

I guide you to safety in the world of so much uncertainty

Come back often and we can relive the best times and the worst times of our lives

I will be here waiting for you to walk on through

Rhonda Waits There is an old bridge near us.They haven't used it for sometime. They are taking it down.I was trying to imagine it in its day as being popular and people all on it.Thanks for your wonderful story. It is funny how things can become a very important part of our lives.Maybe you were able to take a picture before it came down.I would love to see your hub on it.

We once had a bridge in our small town where I grew up. I grew up in the deep southern state of Alabama. We had a beautiful bridge, we all loved it. I live in sunny Florida now. After years of wear and tear, the little bridge was torn down. I went all the way home, just to attend the funeral of the bridge. Thanks for the memory.

      Sweet wishes Rhonda
