What Shall We Name Him?

Updated on November 4, 2011

This life doesn’t end

just cause we end it,

nor does the sun rise

during a sunset

~~~~~~~
I breathe fire upon them,
but only ice leaves my mouth
We’re encased in cold time,
only wishing we’d melt
~~~~~~~

Your power is empty,

for you remain powerless

to prolong your short life,

or avoid your earned death

~~~~~~~
I thought that I loved her,
when
I thought I was loveless,
but
she proved undeserving,
when
she proved herself heartless
~~~~~~~

I fly,

in my dreams,

such a casual thing,

as if I have done it,

so casually

I don’t stop to think,

how am I doing this?

I just run,

and I leap,

and I lift from the surface

of every curse,

of this Earth,

rise above,

every care,

then I wake,

just to wonder,

why can’t I remain there?

      What a beautiful poetry, Ben. It's truly moving and touching. I always find myself lost in thoughts after I read one of your creations. They carry the same philosophical Ben-stamp, yet they are all so different in depth, spreading all over the universe. They always make me loose the traditional ways of perception. Very creative, I am absolutely amazed.

      i love the word play used here.

      My fave part: "I thought that I loved her,

      when

      I thought I was loveless,

      but

      she proved undeserving,

      when

      she proved herself heartless"

      Amazing words. Really good poem.

      Oh Ben. You did it man. I always try to listen to the music that accompanies your poems, and thank God that they are not interdependent, but this time the music was great, and your poetry?

      As beautiful as ever.

      I think I am going to be heartily sick of poetry by the end of this month's contest, but yours???

      No. I always like yours... er... Love yours.

      Beautiful ... I fly in my dreams, too. It's a sign of creativity. I love how you fly without a thought, naturally. Different people fly differently. I have a friend who always uses wings to fly, like a bird. For me, I always have some apparatus to help me: like a parachute that keeps me up.

      Such lovely poems! Thank you for sharing.

      Like the visuals, like the music, like the short direct lines of poetry, like that you fly in dreams, hey Ben Writings, what's not to like? This is great, partly bleak, partly hopeful, a nice blend. Regards, snakeslane

      It's like being on another spiritual plain. You are not quite on earth...yet you are.
