Poem: What are you Thinking?

Updated on January 6, 2012

What are you thinking?

Do you believe

that you truly

The reason

That you are

now thinking

The way that

you are thinking?

If you have not

taken it from

mom or dad

If you have not

taken it from

a sincerely

truthful source

One that you

are proud of

One that you

can proclaim

One for which

you will never

have to bow

your head

in shame.

Chances are

You are still

searching for

any understanding

you can

possibly get

from those

who have

really tried to

teach us

what they knew

was the correct

way to be

Who showed us

how to look

at things,

What is the

correct way

To feel the joy

it brings

From where

did we get

the directions

to that place

to where we

are going

How can we be

sure of our

When we have

never been there

ever seen It

Why we never

To our parents,

We are always

out the door.

to people

our own age

Whose quickest

is easily No!

with a display

of immaturity

an outburst

Of rage

When they

should be sure

securely loud

instead they are

nothing here

On life stage!

Now alone

and crying

the very best

teacher Is gone

You never took

any notes of

the directions

That they were

trying to have

put you on!

All that they had

is exactly what

they were giving

Now lost and

here you are

saying that

you no longer

feel like living.

could that be true

How could anyone

continue with

anything of which

they are not sure.

With no second

chances for you

now sitting

Those days

you were

heading out

Mom and dad door

your parents

have never

hid anything

they knew

to be good

from you ever.

As you stand

here listening

Please answer

your own children

Hear them asking!

What are you thinking!

And that's exactly what this write aims to reveal. These kids today are so eager to teach their parents , totally forgetting ,who the best teacher for them is . That's without a doubt.

That's because they get is too easy, and they get too many.

I don't want kids in America to be like kids in the Islands or Africa ! That will not be my type of thinking , even by a long shot. I however would like a worldly comparison to see which is overall best way to raise kids and for kids to learn, giving them the very best chance at being great adults.

If you teach your kids nothing what do you expect him/her to learn and from whom , the teachers in school only?

Kids needs teachers all across the board , why should the very best children be a thing of the past?

      So much more brethren.

      Bless and blessings to you.

Your effort to quiz our children using spoken words still amazes me.. you're right on so many levels.. we think we know it all but we never once walked in our parents shoes.. until we do.. we will soon understand.. this is what I got from this write... Frank

Reminds me of the argument of environment (nurture) vs. nature. That inner voice as well as lessons learned througout life combine to create a final product, you, along with your values.

Good to see you Caroline , and thanks you for reading and always your thoughtful comments. What you reiterated is exactly as it is , the great words we hear from our parents and elders and simply reminders, and those of us who can hear we recognizes it because we were born Good.

Those lights are already shining inside us.

Love your last poem with the clouds. I am looking forward to great things from you.

      Thanks Caroline.

Nice poem Sky. I think we learn from our parents, but we also have inner wisdom that comes from deep within. Great poem. Thanks for sharing.
