Where's the Rhyme ?

Updated on March 7, 2012

As all my fellow hubbers know by now, I am a end rhymer in my style of poetry. I wrote this as a parody to all my fellow poetry hubbers, so please don't take this as criticism

Something is going on over there

poetry is being thrown all over the air

the words they come out all the time

why oh why, can't they all just rhyme?

The lines they all are written right

they write of love, they write of lights,

sweet flowers and the powers, from high above

they even write of snow white doves.

The different styles and many miles

that separate us, all get smiles

but is it really what was said

between the lines that wasn't read.

These cyber poets, they are great

not just because from their mate

they were told that their poetry was good

and win awards as it should.

now my poem has come to an end

don't get me wrong, we are all friends

just try to put in your next line

in all the words, a little rhyme.

      raciniwa, my sweet little flower

you know rhyming is a power

to express what's on your mind

all the emotion and feelings that you find.

we may call it cup of tea Michael, there are moments that words just flow regardless of the ending sound...great point you have here...

      and close to my heart

      when you are my follower

What fun! I do agree that most English language poetry seems so much more viable when it rhymes and there can be such a variety in the patterns of rhyming, too, as well as the rhythm.

My dear friend I feel you, I really do.

For what I am about to say is true.

The only poems that I can scribe onto the page,

Are rhyming words of love, pain and rage.

I do not know how to write without rhyme.

For this I think we both were born too late a time.

For now it seems the "it" thing to do,

Is write a boring verse or two.

Ones that do not rhyme or even relate,

while others sit back, comment and pretend to appreciate.

I try so hard to understand other forms of poetry,

But lyrical writing is the only form true to me.

(I don't understand poetry that doesn't rhyme, although I try hard to appreciate it. everyone expresses themselves differently....) GOOD POEM!!

You poetry is has such a sweet fringe to it and i agree with the lines speaking of everyones poetry being unique and appreciated for such. Who wants to read poetry that's the same as everyone elses? That would be so boring -smile.

Michael, a lovely well-meant message in your poem...a rhyme gives a bit more exciting feel to poetry, I agree :-)

I like this. I love rhyming as well. Some people can hold poems together nicely without rhyme but I think mine flow better with it.
