When I Remember How I Loved You

I came to you so swiftly

And left again so quickly;

Like the turmoil in a whirlwind,

I’ve touched your life and gone.

You knew no other freedom,

Knew no other care,

Like the times we spent together,

You and I, and anywhere.

Rippling waters in this brook,

Sighing deep, my lasting look;

Whirl I around to search my dream,

To ache, and pain, and loss,

To know well full that what once was,

Can not,

Will not,

Must not,

Ever be again.

The Complete Poem

When I Remember How I Loved You

I came to you so swiftly

And left again so quickly;

Like the turmoil in a whirlwind,

I’ve touched your life and gone.

You knew no other freedom,

Knew no other care,

Like the times we spent together,

You and I, and anywhere.

Rippling waters in this brook,

Sighing deep, my lasting look;

Whirl I around to search my dream,

To ache, and pain, and loss,

To know well full that what once was,

Can not,

Will not,

Must not,

Ever be again.

      Ruby,

      As always, thank you for reading this one. I think we can all remember at least one heartbreaking lost love from our youth. Bittersweet, they were...and we were never able to go back and rescue any part of those incredible loves.

      When we look back at the times when we loved so completely, and somehow it could never be. Beautifully crafted, and the art paintings are lovely....
