When I See...When I Hear

Updated on July 25, 2017

When I see those most beautiful of sights,

Their gorgeous magnitude, and all so pure.

Natural colors of this life, a wonderful world,

By the hands of our God, of His portraiture.

This precious presentation of vibrant hues,

The rainbow's arching lights, of God's views.

This special gift we each receive, all to see,

I know in my heart of hearts, is meant to be.

When I hear feathered ones, every note to say,

Wake up, meeting the sun, it's a brand new day.

Listening to the wind, as pattering rain drops fall,

Sounds, wild creatures at play, I love most of all.

The early greeting of a beloved neighbour near by,

A barking dog, mail trucks rolling, the geese to fly.

Children's sweet refrains, as they play and to sing,

The joys of love and of caring, each one does bring.

A new day's beginning, that flavour of coffee,

The eggs and biscuits, waiting, all so warm.

My seeing the bees and butterflies in flights,

There, just outside my window, all to swarm.

That sweet enticement, of an enchantment,

all the natural honey does so much to bring.

A cooling of breaths and the satisfying taste,

the purest of waters flowing from the spring.

A meeting of my every expectation, that of smell,

Greenest pine needles all lining, scents to swell.

Those dew covered shrubs and of the wildflower.

The pungent earth, fresh to nostrils, of every hour.

Breath of life, the flora and fauna of all nature's call,

A stunning presence, its creatures, great and small.

Each their own odorous qualities are revered by all,

Treasures of the air, Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.

That most valued by us all, as the sense of touch,

Their limbs, with hands and feet of every creature.

Fulfilling all the needs and feelings of each's wish,

As the antenna of the insects, to the fins of all fish.

The minds and bodies of all beings from their birth,

A means meeting desires, establishments of worth.

Just as we are likened to our creator's finest design,

His hands, as our own, made for each of us to refine.

I love the beginning of the day, when it's really early. You've evoked the first murmurings of the day; the birds staking their claim, the distant dog-bark, people's first calls across the fence, the swishing of trees, the sound of the world waking up. Great photos too, as always.

I notice your superlative descriptions: most beautiful of sights, purest of waters, greenest pine, finest design. Your appreciation for the Creator's handiwork shines through.
