No disease, no malformation, just an accident of nature, and a young life suffers endlessly for four months. A short life filled with pain, but also with pure love and devotion. You will never be forgotten, baby girl.

When Life Subsides, Love Remains

By Tony DeLorger © 2103

Her tiny fingers grasped,

like a feather come to rest,

warm, so delicate,

and my eyes filled with tears,

hers fixed on me,

a gaze of desperation,

yet with a love so tender,

no intent could allay,

her tiny hearts outpouring.

And I was humbled,

helpless and angry,

all at once,

this beautiful life fading,

before me,

of my blood,

of my making,

and I was powerless,

being tortured,

beyond my wildest nightmares,

and as I wiped my eyes to see,

there before me,

from a swollen, distorted face,

a gummy smile,

so pure,

so heartfelt,

love unconditional,

far from this pain,

of human struggle.

And in this moment,

happiness amid despair,

joy in the very heart of love.

...and then she was gone.

Much appreciated Wayne, for your understanding. Ironically we learn so much from pain in our lives, and the deeper the wound, the more potential for a higher understanding and the ability to love, regardless of circumstance.

You make me weep. And for reasons of understanding. My heart goes out to you my friend.

Thank you Phyllis. Yes I believe her an angel, who taught me so much about life from her struggle. She was filled with love despite her circumstance and gave so much. It was a humbling experience.

There is often to be found beauty within sorrow -- a beauty we may not recognize for some time. Kim's picture shows beauty even in suffering. What a preciousl baby girl, blessed with deep love from her parent. An Angel she surely is, who came to express love.
