When One Can't Get Past The Looking Glass.

It is no

fun-house here
for him as

he lingers,
in these

carnivorous
sickrooms of

bizarre injuries.

Only tears glisten
in his

twisted mirror,
offering skewed views
with every glance,
reflecting

the tragedy
of a melted face,
and the

slow dying
of a once

patriotic spirit,
that fell

over the
shrapnel edges

of madness.

His bathroom becomes
a carnival

freak show,
at the V.A. ward
where he

stands appalled
at his permanent
facial absurdities
that are

far different
from what he

once wore
before the I.E.D.
exploded

in Iraq.
