When Rain Brings Us Closer, a Poem
Gone were the days we stayed out in the rain
Counting drops one by one, dazzled with silliness
Getting wet or not was not the moment’s riddle
Spray and lightning turned us into devious beings.
I watched as water dripped down your hazel hair
Rolling straight paths to the tip of your nose
Then, there were endless seconds of sprinkles; more
Loving the drenched look on you the most.
You unfastened what was holding me there
Your cold hands felt a strong promise bold against my back
Then with no boundaries, your chest touched my breasts
Mystique of combined emotion, autumn rain so electrifying.
Inside the open-top tent we were two turtles
Continuously, rain streamed passing our barenaked necks
Feeling lucky that we have each other
In the midst of silence, the rain’s song we only hear.
We held skin-to-skin; our silhouettes were fearless images
Kissing, caressing, my dog watching, petrified in awe
Our happiness and joys is knowing "anywhere" is a special place for us
All that we do is pure love; one heart we have made of each other.
We laughed like two fools inlove on a gloomy afternoon
The park was ours to cherish, no one else to claim
Until the gray clouds turned pale and the sun shining
Packed our tent, held hands, kicked apples, foolishly smiling.
So when I ask you if we can do this over another time
Will you pray for rain, an extraordinary day to love again?
Your surprises are like ice cubes, stored to melt for me
Cool days, warm evenings, will you take me soon unexpectedly?
